A report from the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center, which was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, indicated that the cause of death was acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. His death has been classified as a natural cause, certified by his personal physician.

Hogan's health history included atrial fibrillation, a heart condition, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a type of cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow. Standing at 6 feet 7 inches and weighing around 320 pounds during his prime, Hogan was a sight to behold as he entered the ring wearing his signature yellow trunks and bandana, muscles glistening under the spotlight. His entrance was complemented by the energetic strains of his “Real American” theme music, often followed by him tearing off his singlet and engaging the crowd, cupping his ear to hear their cheers.

After matches, fans got an entertaining show with Hogan flexing his famous “24-inch pythons” and waving a large American flag as part of the spectacle of “Hulkamania.” Beyond wrestling, Hogan's film credits included appearances in titles like Rocky III (1982), No Holds Barred (1989), Suburban Commando (1991), Mr. Nanny (1993), and Santa With Muscles (1996).
